The Last Weekend of Summer

How depressing is that title?! I mean, I love my job, but seriously... other than church, the mission trip, and camp, I probably haven't gotten up before 8:30 more than three times this summer. I'm a big fan of sleep. And of staying up late watching Doctor Who or NCIS. Those two things really don't work well with starting work at 8:00.

Friday I got to go out with my mom, sister, and my twin nephews for a few hours to run some errands. [Sidenote: did you know the twins are just 5 weeks younger than Monster? That makes 4 boys that are 3 and under. We're basically a traveling circus when we all go out together.] Once I got home, there was a package that was delivered for my boys from one of their camp friends. It was a box filled with Dinosaur Train toys, books, and movies! Monster is obsessed with dinosaurs right now, so needless to say, we spent the rest of the day playing! That night we went out for my mom's boyfriend's birthday, and got to spend time with a big chunk of family.

Saturday was a day spent at home with all three of my guys, which 100% makes it one of my favorite days. Lots and lots of cleaning happened... and organizing... and trying to make the little guys' bed while they are climbing on it (aka: took waaaaaaay longer than needed). We did some coloring and movie watching, the boys took an almost four hour nap (PTL!!), and ran to the store to pick up groceries for the church dinner Sunday. We ended up stopping for ice cream on the way home (because we might as well!), watched the Halloween Curious George movie, took a lovely bubble bath (the boys, not me), and headed to bed. I try to do a nightly devo story with the boys, and we have been using this one that our Pastor handed out one Sunday. The things it talks about are still a little old for my guys, but we still like reading it together (other nights we just read a story out of the children's bible that we have).

Sunday morning we all went our separate ways at church- the boys went to the nursery, Tim was teaching the adult Sunday School class, and I was in the kitchen prepping for our youth meal (once a month, our youth group has a dinner after worship to raise money for the things we do- concerts, youth activities, mission trips, etc). This month's dinner was baked potato bar: super easy and delish. I always make sure that we have hot dogs on hand for people that aren't fans of what I make, but most people will eat whatever is out. We had everything from nacho cheese and taco meat to chili to butter and bacon. Delish! [Here's the link I used for suggestions :) http://beautyandbedlam.com/easy-baked-potato-bar/]

Sunday night was youth group, church, and an early bedtime for everyone... except Momma. I went ahead and made/packed my lunches for the week, because we all know it won't be happening in the mornings. Brown rice, chicken, black beans, and broccoli. Yum!

I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend and is having a good start to the week! Lots of prayers have been sent up for the teachers, students, new college kids (and parents!) from the Ukena home. New years are stressful for everyone! Good luck!
